Nepal’s Lineup Unveiled for Asia Cup 2023: Rohit Paudel Assumes Captaincy, Sandeep Lamichhane Inclusion

Nepal has officially unveiled its 17-member squad for the forthcoming Asia Cup 2023, with Rohit Paudel assuming the role of captain. The team lineup also features the prominent presence of former Delhi Capitals spinner, Sandeep Lamichhane. The announcement was made by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) through its various social media platforms.

The joint effort of Sri Lanka and Pakistan will host the Asia Cup, scheduled to transpire between August 30 and September 17. The tournament, a One-Day International format, will serve as a pivotal preparation ground for the Asian teams, offering valuable experience before the 2023 ICC World Cup in India.

As part of Group A, Nepal will face off against cricketing giants India and Pakistan. Their campaign commences against the hosts in Multan on the tournament’s opening day. Subsequently, they are set to clash with India on September 4 in Kandy.

This tournament holds significant weight as Nepal embarks on its maiden appearance in the Asia Cup, striving to make a mark on the international cricket stage. The event’s format aligns with One-Day Internationals, allowing participating teams to fine-tune their strategies and teamwork ahead of the highly anticipated ICC World Cup.

To prepare for the competition, Nepal’s squad will undergo a week-long training camp in Pakistan, during which they will engage in practice matches against PCB-designated teams. The Asia Cup encompasses a total of six teams, including cricketing powerhouses Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and India.

The Asia Cup will not only showcase fierce cricketing battles but also provide a sneak peek into the capabilities and potential of various teams gearing up for the pinnacle event in the cricketing world.
