In July of this year, the ICC made headlines by declaring equal prize money for both men’s and women’s World Cup tournaments. This means that teams in men’s and women’s cricket will receive the same amount for winning each game at their respective World Cups, signifying a monumental stride towards gender equality in cricket.

The Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 is scheduled to kick off on October 5 and will run until November 19. The tournament will feature 48 matches played across 10 venues, promising a feast of cricketing action. To prepare for this 46-day extravaganza, each participating team will engage in two warm-up matches.

Fans can look forward to several marquee matchups during the group stage, including India vs. Pakistan on October 14, India vs. England on October 29, England vs. Australia on November 4, England vs. New Zealand on October 5, and Afghanistan vs. Pakistan on October 23.

A total of 10 teams will be competing for the coveted World Cup trophy in the tournament. Host nation India has secured its spot, and the other teams—New Zealand, England, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and South Africa—advanced from the Super League. Sri Lanka and the Netherlands earned their places in the World Cup through the Qualifier matches held in June and July this year.

The top four teams from the group stage will qualify for the semi-finals, which are scheduled to be held on November 15 in Mumbai and November 16 in Kolkata. Additionally, the semi-finals and the final will have designated reserve days to ensure smooth proceedings.

As cricket enthusiasts eagerly await the start of the Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, the ICC’s impressive prize money announcement adds another layer of excitement to what promises to be an unforgettable tournament. With the best teams from around the world vying for supremacy, cricket fans are in for a treat.
